The story of Thomas' doubts is very familiar.  While Jesus satisfied Thomas personally, He speaks to the rest of the disciples and of future believers including us when He says, "Blessed are those who have not seen and and have believed". Through our faith we might live forever.

Mary Magdalene, Simon Peter, and John came to the tomb.  The rock was rolled back, the burial cloths were there but off on the side ... and Jesus was gone.

Christ leads his select disciples up a high mountain and transfigures before them. This incident excites a hope within them that the glory that they see manifest also awaits Jesus on the other side of the tomb. He will usher in the kingdom of God ... from the wood of a cross.

Jesus was out in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. After John's arrest He came to Galilee proclaiming, "This is the time of fulfillment.  The kingdom of God is at hand."

Practice piety ... give alms ... pray ... fast, do all in secret.  The only reward or recognition that we need will come from the Father.

A leper reaches out to Jesus and touches his compassion. Jesus cures the leper with a touch of his hand. The lepere boldly announces his cure to the entire village.

Mark seems to be teling us that the presence of God in Jesus is so great that it cannot be hidden.
