God offers everyone in the world the gift of his own Son. Each person in the world has the opportunity to accept God's gift. Some people chose not to accept Jesus, and by their decision bring condemnation on themselves.

Throughout his lifetime, Jesus repeatedly offered the gift of forgiveness. Now his followers, empowered by the Holy Spirit, are to be instruments of Jesus' own forgiveness.  Peace, the Holy Spirit, and forgiveness are the abiding gifts from the risen Jesus to all.

Jesus knows that his disciples will not have an easy time spreading his message. He acknowledges that for them.
