"Your faith has saved you."  Jesus seams to speak with awareness that the man's faith has already worked on the inner healing. Jesus' words and the physical healing will manifest his faith.

Even though James and John seem brazen to the other disciples Jesus gathers them all and begins to teach in a tone that is patient and gentle, for he knows that these men will pay with their lives for the privilege of learning at his feet.

When a rich man comes to Jesus and asks what he needs to do get to heaven. Jesus tells him to sell his possessions and give to the poor. Later Jesus tells his disciples how hard it is for a rich man to enter the kngdom of God.  Wealth is an illusion; only God provides security in this life and the next.

Jesus is not troubled that someone unauthorized takes unexpected initiative.  He points to God's generosity in not letting the smallest favor done on behalf of those who work for the kingdom go unrewarded.

Jesus cures a deaf man with a speech impediment. Even though he asks the witnesses to not tell anyone of his actions, they proclaim them all the more.  The people sense in him the dawn of the time of salvation spoken of by the prophets. Even if they were stones they would have to announce "He does all things well!"

Jesus prepares his disciples to spread the word of God. Don't be weighed down by what you think are essentials; the ony necessity is to entrust yourself to the mercy of God.

After 12 years of suffering a sickly women sneaks through a crowd to only touch the cloak of Jesus.  Immediately she feels a healing power come to her.  Jesus senses the touch and turns, asking who touched him. Trembling for fear of punishment or loss of the healing she falls before Jesus and confesses her action.  He says, "Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction."

Jesus appeared to his disciples and they rejoiced. He makes them apostles but by imparting the Holy Spirit he is also giving them the assurance that they will be able to carry out their mission.  He breathed new life into them, life in the Spirit, empowering them to carry on his mission of healing and reconciling.

The story of Thomas' doubts is very familiar.  While Jesus satisfied Thomas personally, He speaks to the rest of the disciples and of future believers including us when He says, "Blessed are those who have not seen and and have believed". Through our faith we might live forever.
